Les 3 Brasseurs on St-Denis

June 7th, 2011

This is a microbrewery pub and our favorite place! I thought they are from Montreal but actually they are from France. There are 5 locations in Quebec and 1 in Toronto.

This one on St-Denis, there is a huge beer tank right by the entrance facing busy St-Denis and there is a brewer there working on a beer every time when I go there. They have 5 kinds of beer as white, blonde, amber, brown and special brew. I usually have amber, it has lots of character and balanced flavor. If you want to try all kinds(except special brew), they have a beer tasting menu which is 4 kinds of beer come in 4oz glasses for &6.75.

On this hot day, having late lunch, we shared roasted lamb sandwich and royal burger(topped with sauteed mushroom and Roquefort cheese) with fries. They serve fries with homemade mayonnaise, and these go very good together. I didn't want to eat fries because I just had fries a day before but I couldn't resist eating fries with that mayonnaise. It looks like mayonnaise and grainy mustard and probably some other seasonings too.

Anyway, the lamb sandwich is unusual for a restaurant and that was the reason I chose. Lamb with caramelized onion, swiss cheese, tomatoes and basil-garlic yogurt, it wasn't too bad. The onion wasn't caramelized enough and I didn't taste basil-garlic yogurt very much. I would use something more strong such as Tzatziki so that lamb doesn't taste strong.

The beef burger was ok. It was an ordinary burger that pubs can offer. Besides, after trying a burger at Burger De Ville, anyplace would be hard to beat them. This time food was ok but they have good stuff too. I've had grilled chicken brochettes before. It comes with fries, salad and rice(I was alone when I ordered it and I was stunned when it came, so much food!) Chicken was tender and had great flavor but this one is better for sharing.

We've been there many times and service is great all the time. Food is average but beer is wonderful, so I will go back again anytime!
