Mckibbin's Irish Pub

June 19th, 2011

This pub located in the heart of downtown in a historical building built in 1904, right beside the Concordia University.

We shared 2 kinds of food, fish&chips and bison burger. Usually fish on fish&chips is 1 big piece or 2 medium size pieces but this one, there are 4 small pieces of cod, it's not really my favourite fish but they were okay. The beer batter wasn't heavy, pretty light and thin.
The bison burger had strong meaty flavour, maybe it's not good choice for someone like me who doesn't like beef very much. And the fries, it had strange flavour to it, tasted like soil. I didn't like it very much.

The service, umm...I don't want to say bad things about this place too much but it wasn't great. One waitress serving lots of tables and to me, it seemed a bit too much for her. And when we had second beer, she told us that she is done her shift in 15 minutes, so she want us to pay right away. She was asking us nicely and it wasn't the first time being asked the same question but it feels like they are trying to kick us out. Besides, she was taking new tables right after she told us that and she was still there more than half hour later. Then I sew she was saying the same thing to the other table close to us while they were still eating their meal! They were very nice to her and they took their wallet right away and waiting for her to come back.

Some places don't bother customers if the server is leaving the shift and just send different server. I've worked at restaurants for a long time, so I know how it works and I know how it works for customers as well. I think that it shouldn't be customers business, collecting money is the severs business.

What do you think? Have you been asked by the servers the same question before?
