Le Saint Bock

August 13th, 2011

Their food menu is very unique and food could be hit and miss as same as any other pubs but if you are beer drinker, this is a great place to go and try their different type of beer.

Le Saint-Bock is a micro brewery pub located on St-Denis. They usually have 20 kinds of draft beer on a board and they make lot of their own beer on site. You can see a beer tank in the end of the pub.

I tried a red beer called "Offence", it had a very good balance of bitterness and richness, just what I wanted. Their food menu is very unique that not only regular pub food such as nachos, onion rings or chicken wings, they have brie fondue, Le St-graal(which is similar to tacos) and Chicago pizza. We wanted to try the Chicago pizza but they didn't make it at that night. So, we ordered Nachos with chicken and a hamburger.

Both of the food said 'gént' which means giant in french, we asked the waiter if they are THAT big but he said there aren't huge that can be shared with 2 people. Nachos were pretty much regular nachos you could have at any pub.

The burger, I don't remember exact name but it had everything, bacon, cheese, mushroom, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce and beef patty was a half pound big although, I didn't find the meat was that big. It was a pretty good burger in total but I could taste the meat wasn't that fresh.

Best thing I enjoyed from the food was the french fries. They serve fries with spicy mayonnaise and the potatoes has a light coating which makes the potatoes very crispy. Although, we went back again week after because we liked their beer, the fries weren't as good as the last time.

The waiter was very friendly and attentive but not too much. He came to us when we needed and didn't bother us other time. On a second visit, we had a good waitress and the beer was great as well. Their food could be hit and miss as same as any other pubs but if you are beer drinker, this is a great place to go and try their different type of beer.
