This restaurant located on St-Catherine, right in a middle of downtown but when I found this place on a map, I couldn't remember seeing neither the sign or the restaurant itself. When we reached there I knew why. The restaurant is on 2nd floor of old building and they don't have a specific sign outside. There is only a small sign that sitting on a sidewalk. The restaurant has black decor inside, it felt like we were surrounded by charcoals. I don't usually like black but felt quite nice there.
While we were waiting for my friend, we were hungry so we ordered Chicken Yakitori, which is chicken skewers with teriyaki sauce. There are many kind of Yakitori in Japan actually. There are even Yakitori restaurants and lots of Izakaya offer Yakitori as well. Here at Zenya, the chicken was very tender and teriyaki sauce was pretty good. It could have more ginger fravour though.
Anyway, Their fish portion was good and fresh, rice was cooked perfectly. I was quite happy that they didn't use cheep fake crab meat or surf clam etc...And D ordered many kinds of sushi as à la carte and he was very enjoying them. He said their sushi was plump and that something we both never experienced in any sushi restaurant in Canada.
The service was fine, I found sometimes a bit slow although, the waitress was friendly.
Their dessert menu looked very interesting but we didn't have enough time for it and we agreed to come back for sushi and dessert next time definitely.
